ROAR UPDATE: Rescheduled Races, Relocating, and More

JUNE UPDATE ON NATIONAL EVENT STATUS

ROAR continues to monitor developments as the country re-opens under the lingering threat of the Covid-19 virus. We've consulted with the tracks scheduled to host the remaining 2020 Nationals to try to develop plans to hold these events in a responsible manner while providing our members the National Championship experience they deserve.

While we have not reached a resolution on the status of all National events, we want to provide an update at this time.

Paved Electric Onroad Nationals will be held at Jackson R/C Racing Association on July 30th through August 2nd as originally scheduled. Our understanding is that local regulations will permit events of up to 100 people at that time. Social distancing requirements may limit the number of racers in heats to less than the normal 10 racers. Registration for the event will open on Wednesday, June 17th at 9 PM EDT.

Offroad Electric 8th Scale and 4WD SCT has previously been rescheduled to September 23rd -27th at Flowood R/C Indoor Park in Flowood, MS.

Fuel Onroad Nationals is being relocated to RCRC of North Texas after discussions with the original host, Speedworld in California. New dates of October 7 - October 11 have been set for the event.

After discussions with The Track in Gaithersburg, MD we have reluctantly concluded that it is extremely unlikely that we could successfully hold the 10th Scale Offroad Nationals there at any time this year.

It is proving to be a challenge to develop reasonable plans to hold our largest events while complying with social distancing and other virus mitigation requirements in place throughout the country. We are aware of many locations returning to racing without concern for those requirements but; as a national sanctioning body, we do not feel ROAR can operate events in this manner. At a minimum, our events must meet whatever local requirements are in place while we should strive to model national best practices. As a result, we are continuing to evaluate options for the 2020 Fuel Offroad Nationals and 2020 10th Scale Offroad Nationals at this time. More information will be posted when available.
