Getting Started

Find Your Best Fit

It’s highly recommended you find a local hobby store/track near you and get plugged into the community. They are a great resource to help guide you when getting started.

Nitro vs Electric

The first thing you should determine when getting started with RC is deciding whether you want to run an electric or Nitro powered vehicle. We recommend starting with an electric vehicle as they are easier to maintain and go just as fast as Nitro Vehicles. Therefore, you don’t need to worry about compromising on speed. If you absolutely love to do mechanic and tuning work then perhaps you could consider a Nitro Vehicle.

On Road, Offroad, Rock Crawling, or Dirt Oval, Monster Trucks?

You may already have a good idea about which sector of RC you are wanting to get into but there are many options. Perhaps, see what your friends are running or what facilities are available around you. If you have a local dirt track maybe get into 1:8 or 1:10 scale off-road racing. Is On Road is popular around you? Do that. Or maybe you love trails and/or have a Rock Crawling course that hosts competitions near you.

Ready to Run vs Kit

Next, you will need to decide whether you want to buy a ready to run (RTR) vehicle or a kit. If you want to build the car then a kit is great and you will know your vehicle inside out. However, most kits are only the roller. You will need to buy tires, electronics, a receiver, remote, etc separately. It can get costly quick if you’re just getting started. RTR kits are all ready to go right out of the box. The only thing you may need to buy is a LiPo Battery & Charger.
